For this post, we’ve mixed together a healthy cocktail of the best WordPress pharmacy themes for 2017. WordPress is an e-commerce underdog, but thanks to one brilliant shopping cart plugin, pharmaceutical retailers and medical suppliers have another rock-solid, inexpensive, user-friendly option to consider when developing their online drugstore.
WooCommerce powers each of these carts, and a couple include added support for Ecwid. Our selections were largely determined by the relevancy of their design. Pretty much any shopping cart theme would do the trick for putting together an online pharmacy, but for a near turn-key solution, familiar visual cues and niche trends will give you a bigger head start.
A poorly matched design has the potential to alienate and put off potential customers. You don’t want to get too wild, experimental, or needlessly complex when trying to make a sale. A traditional aesthetic instantly adds a layer of credibility. A snappy performance is a paramount. A familiar UX (user experience), with friendly navigation and flow, will always lead to greater conversions. The last thing you want is distractions or road blocks that unnecessarily interrupt or complicate the checkout process.
On the functionality end, there’s not a lot of variation here, and that’s expected. The reliance on WooCommerce virtual guarantees a shared core feature set. However, some do throw in a few UX tweaks and improvements, like advanced search filtering.
Beyond that, bundled bonuses like Visual Composer and other premium plugins add a bit of value, and could make the difference when making your choice.
So, let’s start things off with:
First up, for your consideration, we’ve got the Medicare Pharmacies theme. The design is clean and contemporary, and the user experience is exemplary. It provides a fast and easy way to get an online pharmacy up and running with WordPress. It’s also a good match for drugstores, labs, and retailers of other sorts of health and medical products.
Theme is fully responsive, and scales to look great and work smoothly across the full spectrum of mobile, laptop, and desktop devices. Usability is tops regardless of what you load ‘er up on. Several popular plug-ins are supported, including WooCommerce (of course), Contact Form 7, and Slider Revolution. Page building functionality comes courtesy of King composer.
Medicare provides multiple homepage layouts, and offers a comprehensive set of options for branding and tweaking the theme in the admin. Site users will appreciate UX improvements like mega menus, advanced filtering/searching, and the choice between grid or list product catalogs.
SEO friendly, and easy to install with the provided demo content and one-click installer. Regularly updated, well-supported, and thoroughly documented. Highly recommended!More Info/Download
Medicine Plus is another solid option for selling pharmaceuticals and medical supplies online. This one boasts a crisp, modern design as well, and includes two distinct homepages to choose from: one for pharmacies, and one for medical laboratories. This is probably our favorite design on the list, and the best medical supplies and laboratory theme.
Powered by WooCommerce, Medicine Plus includes a huge shortcodes collection that adds versatility and flexibility. The theme is mobile-ready and retina-ready. It looks good on smartphones, high-resolution MacBooks, and everything in between.
There’s lots of room left open for customization as well. Color and font management is a breeze. The theme is translation ready and optimized for search engines. Another enthusiastic recommendation.More Info/Download
Medigroup is a big, multipurpose medical and health theme that covers a lot of ground. This one includes 15 homepages, each targeted toward a specific health related niche. Of course, the drugstore and pharmacy theme is what our readers will be most interested in. This one’s powered by WooCommerce, and features a gorgeous, airy and modern design with intuitive UX and familiar navigation.
Medigroup is fast and performance optimized. It’s well-integrated with social networks, to help you promote your products and business over Twitter and Facebook. Visitors and customers can easily share products they’re interested in with colleagues and friends.
Finally, one drawback: Medigroup might be overkill for webmasters searching for a more streamlined, simple e-commerce solution. This is a big product with a lot to offer, but not everyone will need the deep functionality and breadth of features.More Info/Download
This popular online pharmacy theme for WordPress is the best-selling of its kind on the ThemeForest marketplace. Unsurprisingly, that means it’s powered by WooCommerce, everyone’s favorite solution for selling online with WordPress. That’s not intended to sound dismissive–WooCommerce has everything you need and its the favorite for good reason.
The design is minimal and traditional, taking a content-focused approach. Typography is clear professional, plenty of white space helps draw eyes to your products.
Minimalistic design also ensures snappy performance and, as we all know, an above-average user experience always leads to more conversions and sales. I think I said that already, but it bears repeating. Leave a customer hanging for even a few seconds, and it’s enough time to have a change of heart and click the back button.
Lots of options for branding purposes, and 123 Medicice also offers plenty of customization options to brand your site without touching a line of code. Visual Composer is also bundled free for drag-and-drop page building. A very handy bonus.More Info/Download
The simply titled pharmacy theme is another popular product that gets its shopping cart functionality from WooCommerce. This one could be adapted for use by a few different industries, but it was built primarily with medicine and health oriented e-commerce in mind.
It bundles Visual Composer, free, for codeless page building. It also packages Slider Revolution so you can build animated, informative homepage slideshows to engage your visitors the moment they arrive. And. you know, start selling them stuff immediately. Get that money.
The theme is flexible, with four pre-designed homepage layouts to choose from out-of-the-box. Multiple headers and mega menus also supported. Finally, it’s a cinch to install thanks to the one click demo installer. Definitely worth a closer look, if you’re not already sold on one of the other selections.More Info/Download
Like the Medigroup theme, but without the variety of homepages, Medicure is another general WordPress health and medical theme. Readers looking for online pharmacy functionality will find it on the shop page, powered by – you guessed it – the WooCommerce plugin. What would we do without it?
This might be a good option for businesses with their own product, who are promoting it to other retailers in addition to selling it on their own site.
It’s got a page builder, two cool slideshow plug-ins, and it’s high-resolution and 100% responsive (as you’d expect, since it’s not ten years ago).More Info/Download
You’ll find this theme on the TemplateMonster marketplace. The theme’s designer and developer notes that the green and yellow are often associated with health and fitness. And I guess that’s true, though I often see cool blue shades and lots of white space when reviewing medical themes as well.
Anyway, template monster themes generally share many the same features – this one comes with 80 shortcodes, a built-in customizer, and access to the Google font library. Can you guess what plugin this theme uses for shopping cart functionality and features? Surprise, it’s WooCommerce!
There’s some customer reviews on the site if you want some insight from other users.More Info/Download
