Hello, friend. In this post, we look at the best WordPress themes compatible with Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) plugin. If you’re going to use WordPress for selling digital products and goods, Easy Digital Downloads is the standard. If you want your site to look good while doing it, consider using one of the themes on this list.
What makes a good Easy Digital Downloads theme? Compatibility with the EDD plugin is a good start. And after that, all bets are off: it really depends on who you are and what you’re selling. Have a look at the themes we drudged up, and you might see something that suits your fancy.
The themes on this list were selected by hand, based on design quality. In other words, we liked these ones the best. Hopefully you’ll like them too. If not, well – you can’t please everybody, can you?
Okay. Here we go…
Checkout
At Siteturner, we’re big fans of minimalistic, content-first design. The flat, modern Checkout theme strips out many of the gimmicks and useless gizmos common to contemporary WordPress themes, and the overall user experience is better for it: Checkout is fast, responsive, and easy to use, giving your visitors site a few more reasons to come back a second time.
Checkout can even be extended for use as a marketplace, with full support for the EDD Marketplace bundle (sold separately).
More Info/DownloadMarketify
With its clean, modern pixel-perfect design and solid list of features, the Marketify theme is one of the best themes for selling digital products with WordPress.
Like SquareCode, the Marketify theme, together with Easy Digital Downloads, can be used to build a fully-functional digital product marketplace. Although the EDD Marketplace extension is sold separately, Marketify it can just as easily be used to build a storefront for your own digital downloads, requiring nothing more than the free version of EDD.
More Info/DownloadDW Argo
We’ve included DW Argo in a couple other round-ups – it’s primarily a magazine and news theme – but its fantastic integration with the Easy Digital Downloads plugin that earns it a spot on this list.
Perfect for blogs and magazines ala SmashingMagazine and DesignModo that not only publish content, but sell ebooks and other digital products too.
More Info/DownloadHelium
Helium is a blog theme designed for creative professionals that just happens to include a wonderful implementation of EDD for selling your digital goods. The theme is fully responsive and retina-ready, so it looks great and works perfectly on any device you load it up on. Helium is built on the popular Twitter Bootstrap 3 framework.
As a bonus, several premium plugins are included for free: RoyalSlider, Isotope, and GSAP. With the advanced page builder that’s provided, you can really go to town on your layouts, and Helium is SEO optimized and translation ready.
More Info/DownloadBloxo
Do you like minimalistic themes? We do, and it doesn’t get much more minimal than Bloxo. Aimed at designers and creative agencies, Bloxo makes a great portfolio, but it’s integration with the EDD plugin that makes the theme a good option for setting up your digital storefront and places it on our list.
Like the Helium theme, above, Bloxo is built on Bootstrap, and it’s fully responsive and retina-ready.
More Info/DownloadStocky
If you’re looking to launch your own stock photo marketplace ala iStockPhoto (or Dreamstime or Fotolia, whatever!), the Stocky theme will give you a head start and might even save you money on development costs.
Out-of-the-box, Stocky is compatible with the free version of Easy Digital Downloads, meaning you can run your own stand-alone digital products shop. But if you want to take advantage of everything Stocky has to offer, you’ll want to grab the Marketplace Bundle of EDD add-ons.
Stocky is fully responsive and high-resolution. Styling for Gravity Forms is also included.
More Info/DownloadHumbleshop
Humbleshop was designed exclusively for use with the Easy Digital Downloads plugin. Like a few of our other selections, it’s based on the Bootstrap framework and 100% responsive.
Other notable features include: support for Google Maps, unlimited Google fonts, and support for WordPress’s native Theme Customizer (to preview changes in real-time). Humbleshop is easy to install and easy to use.
More Info/DownloadSerenity
Serenity was created especially for Easy Digital Downloads. It’s mobile-ready, and uses WordPress’s own Theme Customizer for real-time customization of fonts, colors and backgrounds. Serentiy includes three portfolio pages, a testimonials page, and built-in support for Google Maps.
More Info/DownloadTendershop
Finally we have Tendershop, a minimal, easy to use EDD theme by the creators of Serenity. It’s responsive, comes with three portfolio pages, an advanced footer, support for Contact Form 7 and more.
More Info/DownloadAnd that’s it for Siteturner’s collection the best Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) WordPress themes. Maybe you found what you were looking for; maybe you didn’t. We’ll never know. See you next time!
